All hopeful candidates appearing for the situation test after their selection in first phase of NIFT GAT-NIFT CAT prepare for Situation Test. Situation Test plays a very important role in the final selection as it holds 20% weightage. Situation Test comprises of 3-D model making, exploiting the materials provided to them. The materials may include different kind of articles.

candidate has to make a 3-D model within time limit of 2 hrs with given set of materials. Each model must be accompanied by a caption and a write up of 200 words. Candidate is evaluated on the basis of models aesthetic appeal, Creative and Clever manipulation of given materials and an appropriate write up. It is advised to spend first 10 -15 minutes of given time in thinking and drawing rough sketch of idea, before proceeding with making model.

  • Candidates should reach the allotted NIFT situation test centre at least one hour before the exam
  • There is no set exam pattern or syllabus for NIFT situation test. Therefore, candidates should keep themselves calm make themselves prepared for any type of question in the exam.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on their model and write-up on the spot by the Jury present in the examination hall. Therefore, candidates are advised to work on their model in an organized manner with complete confidence.
The model created or write-up drafted during the NIFT situation test, candidates are not allowed to write any detail that discloses their personal identity. In case, any candidate is found writing any personal detail or placing any identification mark in the model or write-up, s/he will be disqualified from the examination. Also, the final NIFT result of such candidates will not be announced by exam authorities.
Candidates are allowed to draft the write-up explaining the explaining the concept behind the design/model in English language only. This is because the medium of instruction at all NIFT colleges is English.
